This is Dr Sankaran’s description of the Ars alb personality:
Arsenicum, also known as Arsenic, is closely related to Phosphorus. It has a similar feeling of isolation and insecurity, but on a much deeper level. Arsenic individuals see the world as threatening and chaotic. They have delusions of thieves around them, conspiracies against them, and people conspiring to murder them. They feel lonely yet threatened by people. They crave companionship but struggle to trust the very people they depend on. The fear of being alone is intense, so they are careful not to offend others for fear of being abandoned. Anxiety fills their lives, making them restless and driving them from place to place. In moments of acute anxiety, they seek solace in being held or carried quickly, hoping for immediate relief. In their day-to-day lives, Arsenic individuals are conscientious, careful, cautious, fastidious, and responsible. They avoid offending others and strive to maintain a sense of security. Arsenic compounds are characterized by tremendous anxiety and restlessness. These individuals feel they cannot rely on or trust anyone, so they become self-reliant. They fear being let down and are always cautious. They tend to feel chilly and their symptoms worsen after midnight. They may experience acute bouts of anxiety or develop sudden physical complaints.
Here is a poem about Ars alb from the Song of Symptoms:
We all know the story of Lady Macheth
Who was stricken at night with a horror of death
And away from her bed would totter and stagger
With morbid delusions about a big dagger
While her eves ran with tears which were scalding and hot
And in accents quite hoarse she would cry “Out damned spot”
And above all, which seemed to distress her the most,
She never knew when she’d be seeing a ghost.
If only her doctors had had any gumption
They'd have said " Have you got any Arsenieum, chum
