Fever shows that the immune system is actively responding to an infection, which is a positive sign of the body's ability to react.

Homeopathic remedies don't directly kill bacteria but stimulate the immune system to heal. Unlike pharmaceutical medicines that reduce temperature without eliminating the infection, homeopathic medicines target the infection naturally, addressing the root cause of the fever.

Fever serves as an indication of internal infection or inflammation, with normal body temperature ranging from 97°F (36.1°C) to 98.7°F (37.6°C), and fever defined as 100.4°F (38°C) or above.

For children, a temperature higher than 100.4°F (38°C) (rectal measurement), 99.5°F (37.5°C) (measured orally), or 99°F (38.2°C) (under the arm) is considered a fever.

Aconite – Fever with Restlessness and Anxiety

Aconite is the ideal remedy for the initial stage of inflammatory fever and sudden onset of fever and no warning

It provides great relief when fever is accompanied by extreme restlessness and anxiety.

It can have fear of death.

Dry heat with high fever

Patients may experience increased thirst for cold water and intolerable body aches.

Consider using Aconite if the fever arises after sudden exposure to cold winds or getting chilled in general.

Extreme chill in the body and a constant desire to be covered up are common symptoms.

Can be used after a fight or nightmare

Useful for early onset of any complaint, especially colds

Dry croupy cough.

Influenza, panic attacks and retention of urine.

Belladonna - Fever of inflammatory origin

Symptoms of sore and red throat.

Fever is accompanied by hot head and cold hands and feet.

The patient feels internally cold but the skin is burning hot,

Red face and bounding pulse.

Cheeks are hot, red, and may have a sparkly or glassy appearance.

Fever can come on suddenly and be of a  high temperature.

Moaning is common during the fever.

Throbbing pains.

Jerking sensations may occur when falling asleep.

Thirst may be variable, with severe chills, general sweats and possibly hallucinations.

Pains worsen with jarring.

Sour things provide relief.

Fever often starts around 4 pm.

Belladona is useful for treating sore throats, headaches, mastitis, boils, and sunstroke.

Chamomilla - Fever with Irritability and Unconsolable Disposition

Fever may be associated with teething.

Heat and chills alternating.

One cheek may appear particularly red and swollen.

One cheek is hot and the other cool.

In children, a strong desire to be carried and rocked.

Becomes angry if put down and acts capricious, not knowing what they want.

Severe irritability, and difficult to console.

Arching back in frustration.

Often worse at 9pm.

Earache, especially during teething.

Effective for teething pains in babies or toothache from wisdom teeth in adults.

Useful for colic in babies with stool resembling "chopped spinach."

Beneficial for dysmenorrhea and labor pains.

Symptoms worsen during teething,

Worse when experiencing anger, or due to coffee intake.

Aggravated by cold wind, being looked at, spoken to, or touched.

Bryonia Alba – Fever with shivers, sweating and thirst for large amounts of cold water.

Fever with predominant body aches and chills.

Dusky red face.

The person's body is cold to touch during the fever.

Gradual onset of fever.

Prefers to lie down still to find relief; movement worsens their condition.

Thirst is for large amounts of water.

Worse for the slightest movement.

Wants to be alone in their own bed.

Symptoms worsen with warmth, movement, and touch.

However, lying on the painful side provides some relief.

May have a severe headache.

Mouth and lips dry.

Possibly constipated.

Eupatorium Perfoliatum- for fever with bone pain

Provides quick relief from severe bone pain during fever.

The main indication is periodic fever, occurring at fixed intervals.

Chill stage is accompanied by intense aching and bone pains.

Patient experiences shivering and agonizing pain in the head and eyes.

Pain is described as bruised, and the patient feels as if beaten.

Suitable for any type of fever, but particularly useful for dengue fever and malaria.

Symptoms such as hoarseness and cough with soreness in chest.

Chronic loose cough, worse at night. Inability to lie on the left side.

Coryza with sneezing.

Gelsemium – For Fever With Weakness

Gelsemium is indicated by an absence of  thirst,  chills  up and down the spine, and head feeling hot and full.

Gelsemium has been long considered an excellent remedy for treatment of Influenza.

It is very beneficial in fever cases where the patients suffer from weakness, dizziness and even the tendency to faint.

Sleepy with droopy eyes.

There is an absence of thirst in most cases.

Gelsemium shows all the characteristics of viral influenza. There is body ache, myalgia ( muscular pain), sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose, dullness, weakness and headache. When these symptoms are present, Gelsemium should be considered.

It can be used in early stage of typhoid fever with great exhaustion,

dizziness with the patient preferring to be covered.

Worse for emotional upsets, bad news, damp weather, heat or  warmth.

Better for profuse Urination, sweating, open air and movement.

Rhus Tox – For Fever with Extreme Bodyache

Rhus-tox is for fever with extreme body aches, leading to restlessness.

Desire to stay in motion for relief.

It is also effective for fever caused by getting wet in the rain.

Shivering all over the body during fever along with a dry tongue and  a stretching pain in the body.

Mental and physical weakness may also be present.

Restless, stiff, and sore in influenza.

Worsens at night, and the person may toss and turn.

Intermittent chills are accompanied by a dry cough and restlessness.

The person feels chilly, as if cold water was poured over them.

This is followed by heat and a desire to stretch the limbs.

There is a great thirst for cold drinks, especially milk at night.

Dry mouth, throat, and tongue are common symptoms.

Tongue thickly coated, but red at tip, and great thirst.

Arsenic Album – Fever With Marked Exhaustion

Periodicity marked by body burning pains, weakness, restlessness, and exhaustion, especially worsening at night.

Thirsty for frequent small sips, worsens after midnight.

Complaints worsen with slight movement, relieved by applying heat.

Heat stage inclines towards uncovering due to dry heat and increased thirst.

End of the fever stage is characterised by a cold and clammy sweat.

Sometimes accompanied by gastric symptoms like colic, nausea, loose stools, and a sense of heaviness in the stomach.

Arsenic album indicated in cases of typhoid and malaria fever.

Ferrum phos- profuse sweating with shivers

Face is alternately red and flushed or pale.

Profuse sweating despite feeling shivery.

Often presents with a throbbing headache that is better for cold applications.

Tongue is red and shiny.

Ipecac- fever with constant nausea

A short chill accompanied by thirst and followed by heat all over except in the extremities, which are icy cold and covered with clammy sweat.

There is constant nausea unrelieved by vomiting, which causes great exhaustion; tongue is clean.

Merc-sol - fever with foul breath and indented tongue

Fever often brought on by changing weather.

Presents as creeping chills alternating with burning heat, and profuse offensive sweats.

The breath is foul and tongue appears flabby, pale, indented by teeth and coated yellow.

There is an extreme thirst, despite the moist mouth; symptoms are worse at night.

Phosphorus - fever with thirst and chills with hunger

Fevers and chills alternating with a thirst for cold drinks and hunger during the chills.

Sweats at night or in the early hours especially on the head, hands and feet, with chest involvement.

Possible delirium, with exhaustion and apathy.

Apis -  fever with thirstlessness and worse for heat

Fever symptoms with frequent chills, lethargy and possible delirium, worse from any form of heat.

Thirstless and the skin alternates between dry and moist, but there are no heavy sweats.

There may be patches of rosy swelling with burning and stinging pains.

Arnica - fever after shock or injury, worse for touch

There is great weakness with oversensitivity to any touch and a sore, lame, bruised feeling; even the bed feels too hard.

Fevers after an injury or shock.

Feels better when lying down with the head low.
