Symptoms to Prescribe Homeopathy

It is better to have at least 4-5 symptoms so you can make a better  remedy choice.

A good remedy choice comes from analysing the symptoms present. Sometimes the remedy is very easy to work out but often three or four remedies might share the same symptoms and all seem suitable for the person you are trying to help.

Sometimes there is too little information and sometimes too much information. When gathering all the symptoms, pay attention to symptoms different from their normal condition. 

eg if they always feel hot or if they usually love ice cream - don’t use those symptoms. If they are really thirsty and are normally thirst-less or if they don’t want to be touched and usually love to be touched -use these symptoms. Also look for unusual symptoms like painless laryngitis or dry mouth and thirst-less.

Please always include descriptions of the emotional and mental symptoms when discussing the symptoms.

CLAMS

This is an acronym that might help you gather the symptoms:

Concomitants - a secondary symptom present with the main symptom eg main symptom  eg sore throat with burping.

Location - where is the main complaint on the body? Is it right sided  or does a pain extend to another part of the body?

Aetiology - what might have been the cause of the complaint eg an accident?, bad weather like cold wind, hot weather , cold swim etc?, an emotional incident, bad news , grief, an argument , anger etc?,

Modality - what makes the symptom better or worse?

eg heat to cold, pressure, movement, exertion, getting out of a seat, lying on one side etc?

Sensation - what is the sensation eg stabbing, sharp, stinging ,burning, throbbing, hot , cold. It could be a mental sensation like eg  It feels like I am trapped, stuck, drowning, suffocating, being attacked, rejected, forsaken etc
